IAJUS was not built by a technology team guessing how lawyers research, nor by lawyers ordering software. It grew from both at the same time, and that explains the choices behind the product.

The mission: legal intelligence with the source at hand
We believe the future of law depends on an efficient and responsible use of generative AI. The answer is not a bigger model. It is giving the model access to curated, up-to-date legal information. The mission of IAJUS is to make every answer end with a verifiable link to its source, with the professional at the centre of the decision. A page is labelled an official source only after our server has verified it.
What we do not compromise on
The source in view. Answers come from real documents and point to their origin when a stable link exists, so anyone can check them.
No inflated promises. We say what is covered and what is not yet covered. We do not announce volumes to impress: the figures we publish are measured and dated, and never come with a promise of completeness. When the collection does not have something, the answer says so.
The professional at the centre. Artificial intelligence retrieves, organises and points to the source. The legal decision belongs to those who practise, judge, teach and research law.
Academic and technical rigour. IAJUS grew from research into the limits of generative AI in law. That honest reading of the limits guides every product choice.
The research behind IAJUS. Before it was a platform, IAJUS was an academic question: how far does generative AI really help in law, and where does it still fail? The monograph Aplicações e limitações da IA generativa no Direito (Applications and limitations of generative AI in law; Faculty of Law, University of Brasília, 2024) is available in the university repository: read the research (Portuguese) (opens in a new window).
Who provides the service. iajus.pt is operated by Celeris Juris Tecnologia e Inteligência Jurídica LTDA, a company incorporated under Brazilian law that owns the IAJUS trademark. The identity of the data controller and the contact for exercising your rights are set out in the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy. The Portuguese versions of both documents prevail.
